Team RWB Signs Lease for DC Region Chapter

January 2017 – We are excited and proud to announce the recently signed lease of our client Team Red White & Blue (Team RWB), a veterans’ organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.  Their new 4,500 square foot, Alexandria, VA recreation facility known as its “Firebase” will be used for a variety of activities from seminars to yoga classes and function fitness workouts for the DC/MD/VA regional chapter.  You might even catch to some people hanging out watching a football game.  One unique feature of this fast growing, national organization is that all are welcome to join and participate.  You do not need to be a veteran to join and membership is free.  Check them out at www.teamrwb.com

Alfred Street Baptist Church Picks TARTAN

October 2016 – Tartan Properties Commercial is proud to announce it was selected by the Alfred Street Baptist Church of Alexandria to represent them in their recent $4,000,000 acquisition of a 16,000 sf office building.  The new facility, located at 331 S. Patrick Street—across the street from the historic church—will house the expanding youth ministry and provide additional support and meeting space for the church’s various missions and initiatives.  The Alfred Street Baptist Church traces its history back to 1806 when the Alexandria Baptist Society formed, creating the first black Baptist church north of Richmond, Virginia.  Today the church’s sanctuary is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.  To learn more about this transaction, please feel free to contact our office.

Porterfield Family Honored by Senior Services of Alexandria

On Saturday, March 12, Mike Porterfield of Tartan Properties Commercial  and the Porterfield family where honored by the Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) at its annual Generation-to-Generation Gala, held at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center.   Mike was honored alongside two other generations of Porterfield’s—his mother, Kitty Porterfield, and his daughters, Keely and Kirby Porterfield– who “exemplify how the dedication and passion for giving back to the community are passed down from generation to generation.”  Noted in his citation was his service on the boards of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Development Center, and the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, founded by Kitty Porterfield in 1986, as well as his fostering volunteerism in his children.

Also recognized for their longstanding commitment to the Alexandria community were Sue Goodhart, and her daughter, Allison Goodhart DuShuttle.

Senior Services of Alexandria, a non-profit organization that fosters independence and self-sufficiency in Alexandria seniors.  The organization operates the local Meals on Wheels delivery program, handles DOT transportation reservations for the City, presents educational programs, and produces a monthly cable television production, among other activities.

Mike Porterfield has been the principal broker for Tartan Properties Commercial since 2001 and while the company has served the Alexandria commercial real estate community since 1973.
